How I Actually Use AI
AI helped me protect our dogs, repair our internet, and stop babysitting files
We came home to propane in the house, our internet kept getting worse in the rain, and years of scattered files needed sorting out. AI helped me find stove-knob covers, work through a cable repair, and hand off a migration I didn't want to spend two days babysitting.

AI helped me find stove-knob covers after two propane scares
After a second propane scare, I asked AI what could keep the dogs from accidentally turning the stove knobs. It found childproof covers, we checked the local Walmart listing, and the covers arrived with our groceries. A gas detector is next.
What I got out of it: The covers are installed, and I feel a whole lot better leaving the dogs at home.
Why AI was useful: It identified a product I hadn't known to look for and suggested a backup detector while I was focused on preventing another incident.

Rain, unstable internet, and a crawling file migration brought an old dog-chewed cable back to mind. AI helped me work through a test, identify the parts, and send Jason a local Lowe's shopping list. We replaced the damaged run and the connection improved.
What I got out of it: The internet is much closer to normal, and the file migration finished earlier than its previous estimate.
Why AI was useful: It helped me turn a suspicion into a test and a repair we could handle, without first pulling the wall apart.
Full storyAI handled my file migration so I could stop babysitting cloud storage
Before our Microsoft 365 renewal, I wanted years of scattered files moved out of OneDrive and organized for the way I use AI. The tools handled much of the migration, checked transfers, restarted stalls, and helped recover files the laptop hadn't synced.
What I got out of it: I can reach the files I need across my devices, and I didn't have to babysit a migration that took about two days.
Why AI was useful: It took on the repetitive transfer, checking, and folder-reference work, then carried a handoff to the laptop so the cleanup could continue there.
