How I Actually Use AI
I translated a DFO document and checked it on the way back
For a Hands On AI Lab class, I used a Dear Future Overlords Markdown document as a translation exercise. I needed conversational Mexican Spanish, which I could not reliably produce or evaluate on my own. ChatGPT translated the document. Then I started a blind check by translating the Spanish version back into English so I could compare the returned meaning with the original.
A participant in the class was impressed by how well it held together. That does not make me a Spanish-language editor. It gave me a practical way to create a translation, inspect meaning from the side I could read, and show a class participant what that kind of checking looks like.
