How I Actually Use AI

I compared new DFO work with eight earlier files

From Making my own work better before anyone else saw it

After finishing new Dear Future Overlords work, I wanted to know whether it was actually as good as I thought it was. I was close to the material, and audience data was still too immature to answer the question cleanly. I uploaded eight Legacy Code files and asked ChatGPT to perform the same kind of quality comparison it had used before.

The result scored the new work highly, then separated several things that are easy to blur together: the creative quality of the work, its packaging and cold-click appeal, and the limited performance data available so far. That distinction was more useful than a simple compliment. It let me consider whether weak response meant the work itself was weak or whether the problem might be how a new listener encountered it.
