Making my own work better before anyone else saw it

I checked whether new work was actually as good as I thought it was

When I finished a new Dear Future Overlords series, I wanted to know whether the quality held up against earlier episodes.

I used AI to compare the new scripts with previous work and look for changes in clarity, structure, pacing, and overall quality.

What I got out of it: A second opinion before blaming poor performance on the work itself.

Why AI was useful: I could give it both the old and new material and ask it to compare them directly instead of relying entirely on my own memory and attachment to what I had just made.

I caught places where my writing only made sense to me

Sometimes I know exactly what I mean and still manage to write something nobody else should reasonably be expected to follow.

I use AI to flag where I skipped steps, assumed too much, or buried the point.

What I got out of it: Clearer writing before I put it in front of other people.

Why AI was useful: I can get feedback on the actual draft and keep revising it without having to explain the whole idea from scratch every time.

I kept my artwork from drifting all over the place

I have a specific look for DFO, and AI-generated images do not always stay politely inside the lines.

I use AI to help create images and then compare them against the style I am trying to keep.

What I got out of it: More consistent artwork without needing to hire an illustrator for every image.

Why AI was useful: I could make an image, point out what was wrong, and keep refining the same idea instead of starting over.

I used AI to catch bad AI work

Sometimes the first answer is weak.

Sometimes the image is wrong.

Sometimes the writing sounds polished and says almost nothing.

I use AI to help critique AI-generated work before I accept it.

What I got out of it: Better final work and fewer lazy first drafts making it through.

Why AI was useful: I could compare versions, point out problems, and keep pushing the work instead of pretending the first result deserved a medal.

I checked my own assumptions.

I cleaned up my writing.

I kept the visuals tighter.

And I threw away more bad first drafts.

Mostly, I used AI to make my own work better before anyone else had to see it.
