I chose the hard drive even though AI preferred RAM

After the motherboard replacement, the desktop was better but still had one problem. This time it was running, so ChatGPT could work on the computer directly. It ran diagnostics, read error logs, identified specific failures, and developed a set of likely causes and next steps. The remaining hardware decision came down to RAM or the hard drive. ChatGPT thought the two were close but leaned slightly toward RAM.

I was going to Denver the next day. I did not want to buy both parts, and I also did not want a second trip. I went back through the evidence with ChatGPT and decided the hard drive made more sense. It said that was reasonable while keeping its slight preference for RAM. I bought the drive, installed it, and the computer has worked ever since. ChatGPT’s first choice was wrong. The conversation was still useful because it gathered the evidence quickly, made the uncertainty visible, and left the purchase decision with me.
